How Much Does a Guided Snowmobile Tour Cost in Quebec?

How much does a guided snowmobile outing cost? Rates from $279, what's included and how to choose your package from Duhamel, in the Outaouais.

Touring snowmobile beside a frozen lake

Before booking, everyone asks the same question: how much should you budget for a snowmobile outing? The answer depends mainly on the length, on what's included and on whether you're accompanied or not. Here is how to make sense of it, with our rates.

The essentials
A guided snowmobile tour costs from $279 for 2 hours, from $429 for a half-day (3 h 30) and from $559 for a full day (7 h). The rate is per snowmobile, with guide, suit and helmet included: shared by two, the 2-hour tour works out to about $140 per person.

What makes the price vary

  • The length. A 2-hour introduction and a full-day ride obviously don't cost the same.
  • The guide. A guided outing includes supervision, the route and help if something goes wrong.
  • The gear. A suit, helmet and boots can be expensive to buy or to rent separately.
  • The trail access fee. On Quebec's federated trails, every snowmobile must have a valid trail access permit.
  • Fuel and maintenance. Included or charged extra, depending on the provider.

Rent, buy or go on a tour?

Owning a snowmobile means buying the machine, insurance, maintenance, storage, a trailer and the access permit every season. For a few outings per winter, the guided tour is by far the most economical and simplest option: you arrive, you ride, you go home.

Which package offers the best value?

For a first time, the 2-hour package lets you taste the activity. But if you're coming from Montreal, Ottawa or Gatineau, the half-day is often worth the trip more: more than twice the distance for $150 more. For several days in a row, contact us for a custom price. If you've never driven a snowmobile, our beginner's guide explains what to expect.
